Xgimi MoGo 4 LED/Laser, the king of portable video projectors

Xgimi presents its new line of MoGo 4 portable video projectors, consisting of two models, equipped for the first time with a rechargeable battery for truly portable use.

Barely released and already awarded an iF Design Award 2025, the new portable [abc]DLP[/abc] (0.23" [abc]DMD[/abc] chip) video projectors from Xgimi stand out in their market. The first one has an [abc]RGB[/abc] LED light source, the second a triple RGB laser source. They share a compact format - similar to a portable speaker - and an on-board battery, an element unavailable on the brand's previous models.

Xgimi MoGo 4 LED/Laser, autonomy and lighting mood functions££££

The integrated battery offers up to 2.5 hours of video playback in Eco mode, the only mode accessible when the MoGo 4 are battery-powered. Combined with the PowerBase Stand accessory (high stand with magnetic connector incorporating a 20,000 mAh battery), the Xgimi Mogo 4 allows up to 5 hours of video projection. More than enough if you feel like watching Titanic and its 3 hours and 15 minutes of epic adventures.

Another detail: in the box of the Xgimi Mogo 4 [abc]LED[/abc] there is a Sunset filter (see photo below) magnetic to project, as its name suggests, a sun and create a warm atmosphere. Namely, three other optional filters are available: Ripple for a soothing environment, Dreamscape with dynamic hues for a dreamlike space and Lunar for a soft atmosphere. And if you opt for the Xgimi MoGo 4 Laser, the four filters are directly available in the box of the video projector. Finally, the base of the MoGo4 can light up to take advantage of ambient lighting or pulse different colors (total of eight shades available), synchronized to the music played in Bluetooth speaker mode (see below).

Xgimi MoGo 4 LED/Laser, what about the image?££££

The Xgimi MoGo 4 offers a [abc]1080p[/abc] image, for a diagonal of up to 200" (508 cm), even if a diagonal of 120" (305 cm) is recommended for optimum quality. Beyond that, the remarkable brightness of the MoGo 4, given their size, proves to be too limited. But it nevertheless allows you to enjoy an XXL image in front of a football match or a video game for example. As on the MoGo 3 Pro, the ISA functionality is present (for Intelligent Screen Adaptation) and offers keystone correction and autofocus, not to mention smart eye protection. And the ingenious integrated arm system allows 360° rotation of the MoGo 4, to project on any surface.

The Laser version stands out with a brightness of 550 lumens (450 lumens for the MoGo 4 LED), a 110% BT.2020 color gamut, and a native contrast ratio of 1,000:1. Also worth noting is the integration of Google TV with licensed Netflix and connection via [abc]Wi-Fi[/abc] 5 in addition to the already mentioned Bluetooth 5.1 compatibility. Another very good point, the Xgimi MoGo 4 are equipped with a [abc]USB[/abc]-C port (dedicated to charging), a USB-A port and an input [abc]Classic HDMI[/abc], and no longer micro-HDMI like on the MoGo 3 Pro. The [abc]ARC[/abc] function is included and the [abc]HDR10[/abc] is managed from the appropriate Google TV applications (no support from a source connected via HDMI). Finally, the gamut coverage is announced at 90%.

Last details, the Xgimi MoGo 4 offers a 1.2:1 projection ratio to display a large image with a short distance and the lens has benefited from an anti-scratch and anti-dust treatment for a clear and detailed display. Video game enthusiasts are not forgotten with an Input Lag of around 20 ms once Game mode is activated (and Auto Keystone deactivated…). Certainly, we have seen much better but we have also seen much worse.

Xgimi MoGo 4 LED/Laser, simplified infrared remote control and Bluetooth speaker mode££££

Another major development of the MoGo 4 is the ultra-compact, backlit infrared remote control with a detachable loop cord to secure it to the projector when traveling. Connectivity, in addition to the Wi-Fi and Bluetooth protocols already mentioned, mentions the multimedia gateway function [abc]DLNA[/abc] and [abc]Chromecast (built-in)[/abc]. The audio section ensures compatibility with [abc]Dolby Digital Plus[/abc]. In standalone Bluetooth speaker mode, the battery life is around 6 hours at a reasonable level (i.e. < 50% of the maximum volume). The total power delivers 2 x 6 W through two full-range speakers and diffuses 360-degree sound.

A word on the discretion of the Xgimi MoGo 4 in projector mode, with 28 dB announced by the manufacturer. A perfect value for a home cinema session, even with a French art film favoring unspoken words and dry soundscapes over action.

The word to Apollo Zhong, CEO of Xgimi££££

"We wanted to rethink the portable video projector: no longer seeing it only as a projection tool, but as a creator of ambiance, capable of transforming a space and reflecting the personality of its user, almost like a selfie of their world," says Apollo Zhong, CEO of XGIMI. With the MoGo 4 series, it's not just about portability, but about expression. Where others are content to make their video projectors smaller, Xgimi has chosen to enrich the experience: visual effects, immersive sound and careful design, without compromise on quality. This video projector goes everywhere with you, but above all, it fits into your world.

As you can see, the Xgimi MoGo 4 video projectors have some serious assets to convince users who want to enjoy a great image at home. Their versatility is simply amazing: films, TV series, TNT, Blu-Ray, video games... nothing scares them. The integrated Google TV operating system gives very simple access to all the main platforms on the market (Netflix included) and their size makes it easy to take them everywhere with you, that is to say in any room of a home or on vacation, in a second home, a rental or even a campsite (see photo below). In this last configuration, Xgimi markets the MoGo 4 Laser pack + [sthe PowerBase battery stand and a 70" (178 cm) flexible screen identical to that already offered for the MoGo 3 Pro (see our news Xgimi MoGo 3 Pro Outdoor Pack, open-air cinema session).
