First note: connoisseurs of the Japanese manufacturer's [abc]4K[/abc] [abc]Ultra HD Blu-Ray[/abc] players will immediately hope that the Sony UBP-X700/K will finally integrate automatic recognition of the nature of the [abc]HDR[/abc] signal of a 4K [abc]Ultra HD[/abc] disc.
Indeed, to benefit from an [abc]HDR Dolby Vision[/abc] signal on (all) 4K Ultra HD players, you must manually validate the HDR Dolby Vision mode through the menu in the Screen Settings section. And it is of course necessary to deselect this mode in the presence of an [abc]HDR10[/abc]/[abc]HDR10+[/abc] disc, otherwise the dynamic range display on the screen will be far from satisfactory. Unfortunately, without being certain of the absence of this feature at the time of writing, it seems that automatic HDR recognition is still not implemented on the Sony UBP-X700/K.
Sony UBP-X700/K, main specifications££££
For the rest, compared to its predecessor (the Sony UBP-X700 player), we notice that the [abc]Wi-Fi[/abc] function is no longer part of it. The same goes for the 1 GB internal memory. The Smart TV function is provided here by VEWD OS based on the Tivo system signed Xperi. We find HDR compatibility Dolby Vision, HDR10 and [abc]Hi-Res Audio[/abc], an [abc]Upscaling[/abc] Ultra HD from a [abc]1080p[/abc] signal and an HDR/[abc]SDR[/abc] conversion signed Sony for optimal image quality if the deck is connected to an SDR broadcaster. On the audio side, we note the compatibility [abc]SACD[/abc], the support of [abc]DSD[/abc], [abc]LPCM[/abc] up to 192 kHz/24 bits, or [abc]Flac[/abc], [abc]Alac[/abc], [abc]AIFF[/abc] or [abc]MP4[/abc]. More details soon.
