New Xbox consoles at the end of 2024, the leak!

Another “relatively official” leak which reveals many details about new Xbox Series X/S consoles planned for the start of the 2024 school year.

As you probably know, Microsoft has been trying for a while to buy the giant publisher/developer Activision/Blizzard, a transaction which will only take place with the approval of the national anti-monopoly commissions of countries around the world. Obtaining this approval means unpacking internal documents made public for examination, and therefore juicy details which are happily leaking, as we have already reported on a few occasions.

New Xbox Series X with circular design late 2024

We thus learn (via The Verge) that Microsoft is preparing improved versions of its Xbox Series X and S consoles. The new Series compared to 1 TB before) and will have no optical disk drive (probably available as an option). It is compatible with Wi-Fi 6E, Bluetooth 5.2 and the processor will be engraved in 6 nm for “increased efficiency”. The power of the power supply is reduced by 15%, and the price should be the same as that of the original console at its launch.

The console will be accompanied by a new controller (see illustration above), which could be revealed as early as the end of 2023. Codenamed Sebille, it includes an accelerometer, is Bluetooth 5.2 compatible and can connect directly to the Cloud (why? We don’t know yet…). Also note precise haptic feedback, vibration motors acting as speakers, quieter buttons, modular controllers, and a rechargeable and removable battery.

New Xbox Series S at the start of the 2024 school year

Finally, the documents also mention a new Series S with 1 TB of storage, Wi-Fi-6E compatibility, Bluetooth 5.2 and it too will be accompanied by the new controller. This console should arrive in September 2024, and the new Series X in November 2024 (see illustration above).
