First trailer for Ridley Scott's Napoleon: Waterloo!

Ridley Scott's Napoleon is unveiled in a first trailer that suggests a film all in digital and stereotypes.

The spectacular scenes, often in digital, interspersed with grandiloquent quotes from Napoleon declaimed by a Joaquim Phoenix who, at each close-up, seems to be caught in full digestion, follow one another at a steady pace to atrocious music.

A greyish filter of rare ugliness

All the key events are there, even the unconfirmed ones from Napoleonic history such as the coup d'état of 18 Brumaire, but also the campaign in Egypt, with all the expected stereotypes including a tomato thrown in slow motion on a Marie-Antoinette is chatting just before going up to the scaffold. All passed through a grayish filter of rare ugliness.

Napoleon will be released in theaters and on AppleTV+

Historically, it is already the stampede in the ages of each other who are not respected, so one wonders how far all this will go. The most surprising thing is that it is the director of Duelists who is at the helm of the film. Hopefully the trailer isn't an exact reflection of the Blade Runner and Gladiator director's feature film.

Napoleon will first be released in French theaters on November 22 before being available on AppleTV+ by 2025.
