Based on the latest Similarweb data, Visual Capitalist has drawn up and illustrated the list of the 25 most visited websites in the world. A ranking that has not changed much in recent years, but which has recently seen the arrival of sites propelled by the dazzling interest shown by the public in artificial intelligence (AI) tools.
Top 3 unchanged of the most visited sites in the world
The first three positions are still occupied by Google (with 83.9 billion monthly visits), YouTube (32.7 billion) and Facebook (16.8 billion). Note that the combined properties of Facebook and Alphabet (Google) -Google, YouTube, Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp- represent three quarters of the traffic of this Top 25.
Open AI (ChatGPT) and Bing on the rise
And on the side of sites that have benefited from AI, we note the soaring rise of Microsoft's Bing search engine to 25th place, and especially the arrival of OpenAI (creator of ChatGPT) in 17th position with 1.8 billion monthly visits in April 2023, compared to only 20 million in the fall of 2022. At this pace, OpenAI's traffic could soon exceed that of TikTok and Amazon.
