Avatar 4K, announced for June 20 and other info

The Amazon store announces Avatar 4K, the first of its name, for June 20, while Avatar 2: The Way of the Water is scheduled for June 23 (see our Avatar 2 news, 4K UHD pre-order on June 23 and update up-to-date technical information). We take this opportunity to give you some technical details…

Avatar 4K UHD would therefore be available in France on June 20. If we are waiting for a return from Disney for the exact contents of the box, some technical information has been specified (except communication error, it can happen between the USA and France).

Avatar 4K, the picture

As far as HDR Dolby Vision is concerned, no miracle. As for Avatar 2: the way of the water, it will not be there for the benefit of HDR10 alone. Good news, however, like Avatar 2, Avatar 4K has a 4K Ultra HD 100 GB disk and not 66 GB as usual at Disney. This promises a more polished video quality than on the 4K Ultra HD discs of the previous very feature films from the big-eared firm (for example Avengers: Endgame). The latter also specifies in its communication that the average bit rate of the image displays more than 60 Mbits (more than 28 Mbits for Blu-Ray). Finally, the image is in 1.78 format.

Avatar 4K, sound

If this latest information requires confirmation, the soundtracks should be identical to those of Avatar 2, i.e. VOST Dolby Atmos and VF Dolby Digital Plus 7.1 for 4K and VO DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1/VF Dolby Digital Plus 5.1 for the Blu-Ray.
