Xperia 5 IV smartphone, cameras with Eye AF and Object Tracking

The Japanese manufacturer presented the Sony Xperia 5 IV two weeks ago, once again endowed with the elegance that characterizes the brand, and compatible with 5G.

On the menu of Sony's latest smartphone, we find the screen in 21/9 Oled FHD + HDR format (2,520 x 1,080 pixels for a resolution of 449 dpi) from 6.1 '' (15.5 cm) up to '50% brighter than the previous 5 Series, with a 120Hz refresh rate suitable for gaming.

Sony Xperia 5 IV, the sound in addition to the image

It also has two front speakers, Dolby Atmos compatibility and also takes advantage of Sony's exclusive 360 Reality Audio spatial audio technology. Also note the support for the latest Bluetooth 5.2 LE Audio technology, APT-X HD. In addition, it benefits from LDAC compatibility and DSEE Ultimate technology. The latter uses artificial intelligence to adapt the audio frequency and the signal rate in real time for an always optimized sound quality. In this, the Xperia 5 IV smartphone remains faithful to the philosophy of its predecessors, intended to reproduce a cinematic experience on a screen the size of that of a smartphone.

Sony Xperia 5 IV, audio and video capabilities

With the Xperia 5 IV smartphone, Sony is also positioning its latest addition to the photography sector with performances that are, it must be admitted, remarkable. We now find the flagship technologies of the Xperia 1 IV and those from the Alpha series cameras such as Eye AF in real time and Object Tracking. There is therefore a triple Zeiss lens with optimized optics at the rear associated with a fourth sensor at the front: 12 Mpxls wide-angle main sensor (f / 1.7, 24 mm, 1.8 µm photosite, Dual Pixel, PDAF, stabilized) + 12 Mpxls ultra wide-angle sensor (f / 2.2, 16 mm, PDAF, Dual Pixel) + 12 Mpxls telephoto sensor (f / 2.4, 60 mm, Dual Pixel, PDAF, stabilized). For its part, the selfie camera is 12 Mpxls (f/2.0, 24 mm, photosite 1.25 µm).

For video, recording is guaranteed up to 2160p HDR at 120 fps on the APN, up to 2160p at 60 fps on the selfie camera.

Sony Xperia 5 IV, Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 Gen 1 processor

Good point, the Sony Xperia 5 IV is resistant to water (IP65/68 certifications), dust and shocks (see Corning Gorilla Glass Victus on the screen but also on the back). Finally, the processor is a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 specimen (1 x 3 GHz Cortex-X2 + 3 x 2.5 GHz Cortex-A710 + 4 x 1.80 GHz Cortex-A510) engraved in 4 nm, supported by a graphics chip Adreno 730, 8 GB of Ram and 128 GB of flash memory (expandable up to 1 TB via micro‑SDXC). The device is powered by the Android 12 operating system and has a 5000 mAh battery with wireless charging, battery sharing and fast charging (up to 50% in 30 minutes).

On the environmental side, be aware that the device uses zero plastic in individual packaging thanks to the use of paper to wrap the product directly. The package size is reduced by about 50% compared to previous models, and no charger or cable is included. Available at an indicative price of €1,049 in black, green and off-white.
