IFA 22 > Philips Fidelio FS1, compact 3-way speaker and DTS Play-Fi

Philips presents on the sidelines of the IFA Berlin 2022 exhibition a DTS Play-Fi compatible three-way speaker capable of being used alone, in pairs for stereo configuration and even as a surround speaker to accompany the Philips Fidelio FB1 soundbar for a facility 7.2.4. A rare versatility…

Three-way model with a 2.5 cm tweeter, a 6.35 cm high speaker at the top, an 8.9 cm downfiring woofer and two passive membranes, the Philips FS1 speaker can be used alone or in stereo pairing for a true stereo setup. Wireless, it also offers great freedom of placement.

Philips FS1, three-way or two-way speaker + Height channel

It can also act as a surround speaker in a 7.2.4 configuration, associated with the Philips FB1 soundbar (see our IFA 22 news > Philips Fidelio FB1, Dolby Atmos 7.1.2 soundbar, DTS: X, DTS Play-Fi and Imax Enhanced), it is then automatically configured in two-way mode, the HP Height being devoted to the reproduction of 3D elements of Dolby Atmos soundtracks.

On the other hand, at the time of writing these lines, they cannot yet be used in pairs in Dolby Atmos mode, this will require a Firmware update scheduled for 2023 allowing a 3.0.2 configuration , or 3.1.2 with the addition of the Philips FW1 subwoofer (presentation to come), the third central channel being provided by the television.

Philips FS1, Ambilight speaker

Last important detail, the Philips FS1 speaker includes the Ambilight function. Associated with a suitable Philips TV, the Philps FS1 jdelivers a light perfectly synchronous with that of the television and magnifies the Ambilight experience. Of course, the combination of TV, soundbar, FW1 subwoofer and FS1 speaker is supported by the DTS Play-Fi function, for extreme simplicity. It can therefore also be used, very simply via an application, as a link in a multiroom audio chain.

Availability announced for the month of September. Indicative price: 550 euros.
