Yamaha RX-A8A/A6A/A4A, 8K/60, 4K/120 and HDR10 update

Yamaha yesterday announced the availability of a new Firmware update for most of its Aventage Home Cinema amplifier range. On the menu, 8K/60, 4K120 and HDR10+ compatibility.

Thus, version 1.65 of the Yamaha Firmware immediately available adds HDR10+ certification to the Yamaha RX-A8A, Yamaha RX-A6A and Yamaha RX-A4A audio-video amplifiers (available on most content from the Amazon Prime Video service and on some 4K discs Ultra HD Blu-Ray) and compatibility with 8K/60 AB video signals (A designating an uncompressed signal, B a compressed signal) and 4K/120 AB (see table below).

In addition to owners of one of these Yamaha amps subscribed to Amazon Prime Video, owners of a PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X console or a PC Gaming with the associated graphics card will be happy, these devices supporting a 4K/120 signal. It goes without saying that to enjoy it, you also need a compatible broadcaster, either a monitor or a television capable of displaying a 2160p/120 or 4320p/60 signal.

Yamaha RX-A8A/A6A/A4A, ALLM and VRR coming soon

It still remains for Yamaha to offer certain other features for its audio-video amplifiers, QFT and QMS compatibility of HDMI connectors (see our news HDMI 2.1 standard, welcome official additions, technical and ergonomic) without forgetting ALLM and VRR compatibility to answer to all the expectations of the players. Good news, it's still planned through an upcoming update.
