Idris Elba is an actor who is often very much appreciated, even though the Englishman’s career is regularly marked by films (hello Luther: The Fallen Sun) or series (hello Hijack) that are mediocre. Which box will his next feature film, Above the Below, fall into? Answer in a few months.
Idris Elba doubles up at the helm
The film’s main distinguishing feature is that it was co-directed by Elba himself, with Martin Owen (The Loneliest Boy in the World). This is Elba’s first feature film since Yardie in 2018. Alongside Caitlin FitzGerald and Hero Fiennes-Tiffin, he will play an astronaut who finds himself trapped in the depths of an ocean after the crash of his spaceship. The short trailer promises an immersive film (and submerged).
Above the Below arrives in cinemas on December 4. At least in the United States, since no date has been announced for France.
