Sony Bravia TV: Android TV 14 firmware fixes HDMI eARC and Dolby Vision bugs

Sony is currently rolling out a major firmware update for several of its Bravia televisions (2023 to 2026 model years). The main objective of this fix, highly anticipated by the community, is to address the Dolby Vision HDR display anomalies and audio desynchronization via HDMI eARC, which appeared following the switch to the Android TV 14 operating system.

These display and sound errors have indeed been occurring since June 2026. They appeared on several Sony Bravia televisions following the deployment of firmware versions v114.602.050.1 and v114.602.080.1, which marked the software platform shift with the abandonment of Android TV 12 in favor of Android TV 14. The models affected are those based on the MediaTek Pentonic 1000 chip: the Bravia 5, Bravia 7 and 7 II, Bravia 8 and 8 II, Bravia 9 and 9 II series, not forgetting the A95L.

 

HDR Dolby Vision: end of flickering with external sources The first symptoms that appeared in June concerned management of the [abc]HDR Dolby Vision[/abc] format. Owners of these screens were noticing image dropouts and flickering in certain areas. A noteworthy point specified in the latest feedback: this bug occurred only when using an external source connected via [abc]HDMI[/abc] (Amazon Fire TV Stick, [abc]Ultra HD Blu-Ray[/abc] player…). The [abc]Firmware[/abc] v114.603.100.1 definitively fixes this issue, after an initial software patch (v114.602.170.1) released last August, which had not completely eradicated the problem.

 

Audio desynchronization and eARC quirks In addition to the image, the sound was also heavily affected. Users experienced a gradual desynchronization between picture and sound over time. While the new Firmware v114.603.100.1 perfectly fixes this timing offset, the situation remains much more unclear on the sound dropouts linked to the HDMI [abc]eARC[/abc] function. The behavior of the latter would remain random: some users no longer notice any anomaly, while others claim to observe no change.

 

The rollout of this new update (v114.603.100.1) has already begun in the United States and should be offered for download in Europe in the very next few days.
