Shokz OpenDots 2 and OpenDots Air: True Wireless earbuds with free-from-ear design and record-breaking battery life

The conduction audio specialist, Shokz, unveils its two new clip-on true wireless earbuds: the OpenDots 2 and OpenDots Air. Thanks to their ultra-lightweight clip design and large 11.8 mm drivers, these two models combine optimal comfort, a secure fit, and powerful sound; the premium model also boasts exclusive Dolby Audio.

Shokz presents the two latest additions to its OpenDots clip-on earphone range. Following the launch of its first OpenDots One clip-on earphones last year, Shokz expands the range with two new models: the OpenDots 2 and OpenDots Air. Shokz OpenDots 2: Dolby Audio and bone conduction for calls. Premium models, the OpenDots 2 (see photo on the left below) include the proprietary MirrorPitch system for optimized sound reproduction, as well as compatibility with the Dolby Audio spatial format. To achieve this, these earphones incorporate two custom 11.8 mm drivers delivering performance, according to the brand, comparable to a 16 mm driver. These earbuds feature, for the first time, a bone conduction microphone, combined with two air conduction microphones to isolate the voice and neutralize ambient noise, all enhanced by AI-powered noise reduction. They also boast IP57 certification (water and dust resistance), complemented by an IP54 rating for the charging case, as well as the ability to locate the earbuds via the Shokz app. Compatible with Qi wireless charging, the case extends the total battery life to 40 hours, with 10 hours of listening time per charge. If needed, a quick 5-minute charge provides up to 2 hours of music playback.

Shokz OpenDots Air: the colorful and ultra-light alternative. The OpenDots Air model (see photo on the right above), equipped with the same speakers, stands out with a lower price, as well as a sleek design and a very attractive Aurora Purple color. It shares several technologies with the OpenDots 2, such as Bassphere, DirectPitch, Bluetooth 6.1 (allowing multipoint pairing on two devices), and Dynamic Ear Detection. It also boasts IP55 certification (rain and sweat resistant) and a total battery life of 36 hours, with 9 hours of playback per charge. On this model, a 10-minute charge is enough to get 2 hours of listening time. Beyond these specifications, both models are incredibly lightweight: 6.4g for the OpenDots 2 and 6.3g for the OpenDots Air. They fit comfortably thanks to the JointArc, a flexible headband made of nickel-titanium alloy covered in soft silicone. Ergonomics are further enhanced by new touch controls combining tap and pinch, with the integration of a highly precise pressure sensor. Finally, the user can personalize their listening experience via four EQ presets (Standard, Vocal, Bass, Private) offered in the companion app. The Shokz OpenDots 2 is available in pearl white, gray, or black.
