Siri delayed, Apple fined 250 million

Due to broken promises regarding Apple Intelligence, Apple shareholders banded together to literally file a lawsuit against the company. And the judgment has been handed down.
On June 20, 2025, a class action lawsuit was filed against Apple in a California federal court by Apple shareholders themselves. The lawsuit concerned promised AI features that had yet to materialize, limiting iPhone sales and reducing the company's value. Class Action against Apple for broken AI promises: $250 million fine. While the wheels of justice are often turning slowly, this case was remarkably swift, with the judgment handed down in December 2025, details of which were recently revealed by the Financial Times. As a result, Apple was ordered to pay $250 million for this "failure." The money will be shared among the American users who come forward, at a rate of $25 for each affected device. Apple has spoken: “Since the launch of Apple Intelligence, we’ve introduced dozens of features in many languages, integrated into Apple’s platforms, relevant to users’ everyday lives, and designed with privacy protections at every stage,” Apple told 9to5mac. These include Visual Intelligence, Live Translate, Writing Tools, Genmoji, Clean Up, and many more. Apple has reached an agreement to settle claims related to the availability of two additional features. We resolved this matter so we can remain focused on what we do best: delivering the most innovative products and services to our users.” In short, Apple doesn’t seem too worried about this issue, as the highly anticipated features will finally arrive—hopefully—this fall with iOS 27.
