Goodbye to ultra-thin smartphones? The iPhone Air is giving the competition a run for its money…

Apple's competitors will not enter the ultra-thin smartphone market due to the apparently limited success of the iPhone Air.
When most manufacturers base their production schedules on Apple's results, it's fair to say the company confirms its status as a trendsetter. All eyes were therefore on the iPhone Air, released in late 2025, and the first truly noteworthy design model since the 2017 iPhone X. The iPhone Air, the first ultra-thin model since the iPhone X. As early as December, the first rumors confirmed its limited success, and therefore the abandonment of similar projects by competitors. And while a few weeks later other estimates proved more positive, new figures reported by the Chinese leaker Digital Chat Station reiterate the low adoption rate of the iPhone Air. Barely more than 700,000 activations worldwide… The device has thus reached just over 700,000 activations worldwide. For comparison, the entire iPhone 17 lineup (including the iPhone Air) has been activated by 8.25 million users… in China alone. Digital Chat Station adds that several competing projects have already been abandoned to avoid suffering the same fate. Apple remains confident nonetheless and will give the iPhone Air a second chance in a new version planned for spring 2027.
