A tentative first step to combat AI on Apple Music

Apple is introducing a new form of authentication to identify AI-generated music on its Apple Music platform.
While Deezer has chosen an aggressive method to eliminate the AI mush that invades its catalog, Apple has opted for a gentler approach, introducing a metadata system called Transparency Tags. AI-generated music: radically different approaches for Apple Music and Deezer. This is revealed in a newsletter sent by Apple to its music industry partners, describing a system allowing distributors to identify their works as using generative AI, or not. The information will then be displayed on the track's page, accessible to users. The company considers this a first step towards total transparency around AI-generated music. A timid first step, considering that labels are free to apply—or not—this identifier to their tracks. A stark contrast, then, with Deezer, whose in-house tools detect AI tracks (more than 20,000 received per day) and permanently remove them.
