David Fincher's Squid Game US is on track

Even though Netflix has yet to officially confirm the project, some signs are unmistakable and things seem to be taking shape. The first clue: a new listing published on the Film and Television Industry Alliance website, ProductionList.com, which indicates that the spin-off will be titled Squid Game: America.
On this listing, we also discover the creative team, including David Fincher, the creator of the original series Hwang Dong-hyuk, as well as Kim Ji-yeon, Zeus Zamani, and Rhett Giles as producers. Dennis Kelly is credited with the screenplay, while Cate Blanchett is, at this stage, the only actress associated with the cast. The listing specifies that filming is aiming for a February 26th launch in Los Angeles. Cate Blanchett to star in the US Squid Game? As a reminder, Cate Blanchett made a cameo in the final episode of the original South Korean series, playing a recruiter for the American games, where she was seen playing ddakji with a potential player. This appearance was, however, perceived as a one-off, as neither Hwang nor Blanchett had ever hinted, in their recent interviews, that she would participate in a possible American series version. It's also worth noting that Blanchett previously collaborated with Fincher on The Curious Case of Benjamin Button. As Steven Spielberg once said, "In cinema, there are no coincidences: only happy accidents." So, we eagerly await Fincher's Squid Game: America. As a reminder, the original series, a true global phenomenon, finished its three-season run four months ago.
