06.11.2025 • 16h42
LG Display, a subsidiary of LG Group, returned to profitability in the third quarter of 2025, driven by strong OLED growth across the board.
LG Display returned to profitability in the third quarter of 2025, primarily driven by its OLED business, a promising sign of a finally profitable 2025 after four years of losses. LG Display is finally in the black! The Korean giant posted revenue of $4.87 billion, up 25% compared to the previous quarter and 2% year-over-year. Operating income reached $300 million, with a modest net profit of $0.7 million, impacted by exceptional charges related to workforce optimization. Admittedly, profitability is modest, but it's there, and that's the main thing for LG Display, whose long-term viability was starting to become a serious concern for many financial analysts. OLED is strong across all segments. Thus, in the third quarter of 2025, OLED panel sales represented 65% of total revenue, a historic record for LG Display. Growth applies to both large-format TV panels and AMOLED displays for mobile devices, with a 20% increase projected for the first half of 2025. LG Display also confirmed its role as the exclusive supplier of AMOLED panels for Apple wearables (Apple Watch and Apple Vision), consolidating its position in the high-end mobile market. Regarding the TV segment, LG Display aims to ship 6 million OLED panels this year and 7 million in 2026. With a monthly production capacity of 180,000 8th-generation substrates, only 75% will have been utilized by 2025. LG Display: Caution is still advised. However, caution is advised, as the display market sees Chinese competition intensifying each year, and in 2026, China is preparing to enter the OLED market (the Chinese giant BOE will soon also offer OLED displays for mobile devices). So, it's not out of the woods yet. But this kind of news is preferable to yet another quarter in the red and should allow the Korean company, in addition to ending the calendar year in the black, to implement its development plan to continue playing a major role in the screen industry.
