Loewe Stellar 97, giant Oled TV (246 cm)

First seen at the IFA Berlin 2022 show on the LG stand (see our CES 22 news > LG Oled 4K/8K Ultra HD TV 2022: 20 models including the LG OLED97G2 (97'', 246 cm) with Oled Evo Brightness Booster panel), the 97" Oled panel (246 cm) had since been exclusive to the Korean brand. In 2025, things changed with Loewe adding a new star with a 97" screen to its Stellar galaxy.

For the launch of the new Loewe Stellar 97, we were able to visit the German manufacturer's factory last week in the town of Kronach, a 90-minute drive from Nuremberg in Bavaria. We were able to wander freely around the production lines.

Loewe Stellar 97 OLED TV: finish, optimized wall mount, and magic.light function££££ As is customary with the German manufacturer, which manufactures its [abc]Oled[/abc] televisions, the product design is prestigious. It recently won an IF Design Award 2025 and a Red Dot Design Award. The famous Loewe eye is found in the middle of the integrated sound section in the form of a sound bar (total power of 300 W delivered by 6 speakers and management of [abc]Dolby Atmos[/abc]) with acoustic fabric at the bottom of the screen and the finish of the aluminum rear panel and the brushed aluminum frame gives the whole an elegant sobriety. Of course, the connections and cables are cleverly hidden and particular care has been taken with the wall attachment system so that the television, once fixed to the wall, appears stuck to it or almost, like a painting. An optional floor stand is available, available in a swivel version (±15° for €1,200).

Still in the design chapter, the Loewe magic.light functionality should be noted. Based on a row of [abc]LEDs[/abc] present at the base of the TV, it diffuses a soft white light (see photos above and below) or colored light according to the user's wishes: intensity, saturation of hues and temporality are of course totally configurable. We are still far from the Ambilight patented by Philips but it is an appreciable plus.

Loewe os9 based on Vidaa U9 ££££

Loewe has made a habit of shopping with one or other of the players in the operating system market. While some references are powered by webOS or Tizen, the Loewe Stellar 97 TV is powered by Vidaa U9 (identical to that of Hisense televisions). Very complete in terms of applications, access to all the best platforms and services available is essential, most often via pre-installation. Connectivity is also rich with [abc]Wi-Fi[/abc], [abc]AirPlay[/abc], [abc]Miracast[/abc] and Matter compatibility. We also note the presence of the Vidaa Cloud Gaming Zone service bringing together numerous platforms (Blacknut, Boosteroid, etc.).

The Loewe Stellar 97 Oled TV is controlled via the supplied Bluetooth/infrared remote control (Loewe Assist remote control available on request). Precision, voice control is included. Namely, the Loewe Stellar 97 is compatible with the brand's audio equipment: klang bar3 or bar5 soundbars, klang mr3/mr5 speakers, without publishing the klang sub5 subwoofer.

A few more words on the Loewe dr+ mode. The latter consists, in the presence of a double tuner [abc]DVB-T[/abc]2/[abc]DVB-C[/abc]/[abc]DVB-S[/abc]2, allows recording two different contents from the one watched on an integrated hard drive with a capacity of one terabyte. [abc]Time Shifting[/abc] and DVR are also available.

Loewe Stellar 97 TV, latest generation Oled EX panel££££

The Loewe Stellar 97 television is built on a latest generation Oled EX Open Cell panel (identical to that of the LG G5 and LG M5 series), allowing Loewe engineers to customize (a little) the screen display. As a reminder, the EX panel (for Evolution and eXperience), based on the use of deuterium material (or heavy hydrogen) supplied by the DuPont firm (chemistry specialist) as a replacement for hydrogen, which is more stable and more heat-resistant, allows for a peak brightness of organic diodes that is around 30% higher than conventional Oled panels without the risk of "burning" the screen, for more vivid and natural colors.

Of course, the key element of the Evo label implemented in 2021 is still relevant: the addition of an additional layer of green-colored emitting material to, again, improve peak brightness. The latter, according to brand representatives, displays 1,100 nits on the Lowe Stellar 97.

Loewe Stellar 97 TV: HDR10/10+, HDR Dolby Vision, HDR HLG and Dolby Vision IQ Precision Detail££££

The panel is native 10-bit [abc]Oled[/abc] [abc]Ultra HD[/abc] 144 Hz and includes HDR Dolby Vision IQ Precision Detail compatibility (HDR Dolby Vision image always perfectly set regardless of the surrounding lighting conditions). Of course, [abc]HDR10[/abc], H[abc]DR10+[/abc] and HDR [abc]HLG[/abc] (Hybrid Log Gamma) are also supported.

Loewe Stellar 97 TV, the connectivity££££

The connectivity includes at the back of the TV (see photo above) four [abc]HDMI[/abc] [abc]CEC[/abc] 2.1 inputs (note, only two accept 144 Hz, 120 Hz for the other two) certified [abc]HDCP[/abc] 2.2, one of which has the [abc]eARC[/abc] function. Likewise, the [abc]ALLM[/abc] and [abc]VRR[/abc] functions are present. There is also an [abc]optical[/abc] output plus three [abc]USB[/abc] Host ports (including one 3.0) compatible with [abc]Fat32[/abc] and [abc]NTFS[/abc], a [abc]CI+ port[/abc] and an [abc]Ethernet[/abc] port.

Availability announced for the end of July. Indicative price: 29,999 euros.
