The highly anticipated new mini-series Shōgun, a new adaptation of James Clavell's best-seller by Rachel Kondo and Justin Marks, will be available from February 27 on Disney+. The trailer has just been revealed.

The first two episodes of the Shōgun series will be available from February 27 exclusively on Disney+, while the following ones will arrive weekly.

Great show in the samurai era

Composed of 10 episodes, the Shōgun mini-series takes place in Japan in 1600, at the dawn of a civil war that will mark the century. The synopsis states: “John Blackthorne (Cosmo Jarvis), the English commander of a mysterious ship abandoned on the beach of a fishing village, carries secrets that could tip the scales in favor of Lord Yoshii Toranaga (Hiroyuki Sanada ), engaged in a fight to the death against his enemies in the Council of Regents. They would at the same time reduce the influence of Blackthorne's enemies, the Jesuit priests and Portuguese traders. The destinies of Toranaga and Blackthorne will be inextricably linked to their translator, Toda Mariko (Anna Sawai), a mysterious Christian woman of noble extraction, the last of a line that has fallen into disgrace. While serving her lord in this tense political landscape, Mariko will have to balance her relationship with Blackthorne, her commitment to the faith that saved her, and a daughter's duty to her late father.

If the production is American, the cast is mainly Japanese with, among others, Tadanobu Asano, Hiroto Kanai and Kashigi Omi.
