House of the Dragon season 2 available in summer 2024?

HBO CEO suggests broadcast window for next season of Game of Thrones spinoff.

The production of the second season of the Game of Thrones spin-off, House of the Dragon, has just started, and we are already impatient to know when it will be finished to be broadcast on HBO Max.

House of the Dragon season 2 at the end of summer 2024?

Reporting comments from HBO CEO Casey Bloys, Variety informs us that 2024 is a “good estimate”. Specifically, Bloys claims that the series won't be ready for Emmy season, the award ceremony for the best US TV programs.

The Emmy eligibility period ends at the end of May, so we can deduce that season 2 will be broadcast in the summer of 2024 at the earliest, so probably at the end of August/September to stick to the broadcast date of the first season.

Other spin offs being tested internally!! !!

Too much waiting between two seasons? So what about other spin offs to “plug the holes” between each broadcast? Casey Bloys' response: “My philosophy is that a good script is the number one priority. I don't do anything by demanding a pace of a script or two a year. I base myself on the scripts that we are passionate about”.

Casey Bloys open to anything

And to continue: "Remember that to put House of the Dragon behind Game of Thrones, we developed many series, shot a pilot, developed several scenarios, and that's where we got House of the Dragon. Getting there again will take just as much effort. You have to develop many things, try things. You never know what will work. So that's what we're doing right now. I am not opposed to any number of series in particular. There's probably a natural limit to what fans want, but I'm open to anything as long as we're really sold on a series' storylines and outlook.”

As a reminder, an extremely expensive pilot for a Game of Thrones spin-off series was filmed with Noami Watts in one of the main roles, before going straight to the trash.
