Oled TV production 2021: 80% forecast

Now that the Chinese LG Display factory in Guangzhou, China is running (almost) at full capacity, the display maker announces that Oled TV production is expected to increase by 80% in 2021 compared to 2020.

This significant increase should not be compromised by sharply declining global TV market forecasts for the second half of 2021, for a total of 221 million units expected by TrendForce at the end of 2021, i.e. an annual decline of -6.7 %.

TrenForce predicts 7.1 million TV Oled in 2021

For its part, Taiwanese analyst firm TrendForce said in a report published last month that TV Oled deliveries are expected to reach 7.1 million in 2021 , against less than 4 million in 2020. The TrendForce firm also specifies that this increase in manufacturing is explained by the start-up of the Guangzhou plant, an 8.5th generation site allowing production costs to be reduced, therefore the indicative price of TVs in stores.

If these figures prove to be true, Oled TVs could represent around 10% of total TVs produced in 2021. Good news for LG Electronics, which has a market share of around 50% in this segment, ahead of Sony with 20%.
