Denon AVR-X2900HDAB: HDMI 2.1, HDR Dolby Vision and Ultra HD 8K compatibility
As with the Denon AVR-X2800HDAB, there are six HDMI CEC inputs and two outputs, including three HDMI 2.1 inputs certified HDCP 2.3, compatible with Ultra HD 4K 120 fps and Ultra HD 8K 60 Hz in 4:4:4, with FreeSync, VRR, ALLM, QMS, QFT and eARC support. 8K UHD upscaling remains, as does support for HDR10+, HDR10, HDR HLG, and Dolby Vision HDR signals, not to mention BT.2020 color gamut support. Finally, 1440p pass-through is supported for PC and console players, and the DAB+ tuner is still included.
Denon AVR-X2900HDAB: Dolby Atmos 5.1.2, DTS:X 7.1 and Bluetooth TX
The Denon AVR-X2900HDAB remains a discreet 7.2 model, compatible with Dolby Atmos 5.1.2 and DTS:X 7.1. The Bluetooth TX function is still included, allowing simultaneous streaming of the audio signal to Bluetooth speakers and headphones, as with the AVR-X2800HDAB. Note that Bluetooth LE is used. The multi-zone management already present on the 2800 is also included: multi-channel decoding in the main zone, downmixed stereo playback in zone 2, and the ability to associate an audio source with another video source in the main zone. The Heos multiroom module still allows you to distribute a source to other components of the Heos ecosystem.

Denon AVR-X2900HDAB: Cirrus Logic DAC, Hi-Res Audio streaming and network compatibility
The dual DAC is a Cirrus Logic CS4308 (768 kHz/32 bits, 8 channels) and the capacitors, still with a capacitance of 10,000 µF, have been revised. Spotify Connect, AirPlay 2 (with Dolby Atmos Music support via a future firmware update), Dual Band Wi-Fi, TuneIn, UPnP (DLNA) audio gateway, Amazon Music, Deezer, SoundCloud, and Tidal compatibility remain unchanged. Regarding calibration, Audyssey MultEQ XT is still present, with Audyssey Dynamic Volume and Audyssey Dynamic EQ, and compatibility with DSD 2.8/5.6 MHz, FLAC/WAV/ALAC up to 192 kHz/24-bit, [abc]MP3[/abc]/[abc]WMA[/abc]/[abc]AAC[/abc], and 4/8 ohm impedance handling. The Audyssey MultiEQ Editor application remains compatible, as do the two subwoofer outputs. As with the X2800HDAB, Audyssey allows you to store two separate configurations (for example, 2.0 and 5.1.2) and switch between them on the fly. Denon AVR-X2900HDAB: Optional Dirac Live, Advanced Monitoring, and Web Interface; A major new feature: the AVR-X2900HDAB now offers optional Dirac Live, a first for this range, as well as on-screen per-channel level monitoring and a complete web interface for setup (with a .pdf save function coming soon via an update this summer). Similarly, in a multi-channel setup, it is possible to add one of the new Denon Home wireless speakers to the AVR-X2900HDAB for the surround channels (see our news article "Denon Home 200/400/600 Speakers: The New Heos Multiroom Range Upgrades to Dolby Atmos Music").
Denon AVR-X2900HDAB: 7 x 125 W amplification and 70% Guarantee label
The amplification remains the same: 7 x 125 W into 6 ohms (7 x 95 W into 8 ohms). The 1080p color OSD introduced on the X2800HDAB is retained, with the same detailed information on the input and output signals. The four Quick Select buttons on the front panel retain their advanced functions (Audyssey, multiroom, etc.). New on the AVR-X2900HDAB: Denon introduces the "70% Guarantee" label, ensuring that the amplifier maintains at least 70% of its nominal power when five channels are used simultaneously.

Denon AVR-X2900HDAB, Connectivity: Full connectivity and backlit remote control
The connectivity is identical to that of the X2800HDAB: six HDMI inputs (three 2.0b, three 2.1), two HDMI 2.1 outputs, one coaxial output, two optical inputs, four stereo RCA inputs, one MM phono input, one 2.0 pre-out (zone 2), one headphone output, two USB host ports (one on the front panel), one Ethernet port, and two subwoofer outputs. Control via the Heos App remains available. One last detail: a backlit remote control accompanies the Denon AVR-X2900HDAB, and the box is made from 100% recycled cardboard—no more plastic.
