Dead for a Dollar: Walter Hill releases his new western on video

Presented out of competition at the Venice Film Festival in 2022, Walter Hill's film, Dead for a Dollar, has never seen the shadow of a French theater's folding seat. Fortunately, we will be able to see it…

In 2022, after six years without filming, Walter Hill (48 Hours, Double Trigger, Deadwood) brought together, for a western, Christoph Waltz, Willem Dafoe, Rachel Brosnahan and Brandon Scott. Unfortunately, despite its 4-star cast (sheriff!), Dead for a Dollar was never released in theaters in France, since it arrived directly on Canal+ last September.

The official synopsis states: "Chihuahua, New Mexico in 1897. Max Borlund, a famous bounty hunter, is hired to find and return the wife of a Santa Fe businessman, apparently kidnapped by a African-American deserter. During his investigation in Mexico, he comes across his nemesis, American expatriate Joe Cribbens, whom Max sent to prison years before. He also finds the woman and the deserter, now lovers, hiding in the Mexican desert to escape her violent husband. Will Max send her away or help her fight merciless hitmen and her lifelong rival? ”.

Its release on Blu-Ray and DVD on August 7 from M6 Video will be an opportunity to catch up with it.
