TNT 4K, the Olympics in native 4K on France 2/France 3 UHD but not the Paralympic Games

Among the information collected during the UHD Partners press conference organized last week in Paris, there is an important one about 4K TNT and the broadcast of the Paris 2024 Olympics and JP which will not be hosted at the same brand.

During his speech, Jacques Donat-Bouillud, the director of development of the broadcasting and distribution networks of France Télévision, clarified the nature of the broadcasts of the Olympic Games (Olympic Games and JP (Paralympic Olympic Games)) of Paris 2024.

No native 4K for the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games

First, Jacques Donat-Bouillud confirmed that the Paris 2024 Olympic Games will be good broadcast from July 27 to August 11 via an Ultra HD 4K stream on France 2 UHD and an upscaled UHD 4K stream on France 3 UHD. He then indicated that the streams of the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games will be broadcast from August 28 to September 8 in UHD 4K via Upscaling, no native 4K.

He also confirmed that the France 2 UHD broadcast which will begin in a few days in Paris (at the latest on December 15) and the following weeks/months in the rest of the metropolis and nine overseas communities, will continue after the Paris 2024 Olympics and JP in UHD 4K (native or upscaled) while authorization from Arcom for France 3 UHD (via Upscaling only) is valid from July 10 to September 10 only.
