For this price, players will get a pair of GTA VI Oakley Frogskins sunglasses with Prizm Sapphire lenses, a Leonida Keys shoulder bag to wear crossbody, a 15 cm Macca the Gator figurine with a secret compartment, a New Era 9FORTY A-Frame snapback cap, a magnetic Macca the Gator mirror, a Chunkee the Manatee shot glass, a Vice City mixing spoon, a razor blade key ring, nine Leonida Keys enamel pins presented in a metal box, stickers, and a double-sided poster with the full map of Leonida on the back. And that's all.
This is by far the most expensive Collector's Edition ever released by Rockstar, and fans were quick to express their displeasure on social media. Many are notably comparing this box set to the studio's previous Collector's Editions, such as those for GTA V or Red Dead Redemption II, the latter of which sold for only $100 at launch.
GTA VI: the power of marketing
That said, the marketing stunt is quite remarkable in its own way and pushes cynicism almost to its peak. Selling a $400 box set devoted to GTA VI without even including GTA VI in it shows how confident Rockstar is in its move and in the power of its brand. The most ironic thing is that it is more than likely that fans will still snap it up, to the point of quickly causing it to sell out and, why not, a restock. Bets are open.
