Jason Momoa leaves Helldivers

For no apparent reason, Jason Momoa has left the Helldivers project. It just goes to show, sometimes the ways of Hollywood are mysterious.
Less than five months after being announced as attached to the project, Jason Momoa, star of Aquaman and Dune, has left the film adaptation of Helldivers, developed by Sony Pictures and PlayStation Productions based on the hit video game franchise. Jason Momoa fired from Helldivers? The reasons for his departure remain unknown, but the project is reportedly still very much alive. Sony is currently looking for a new star to take over the lead role. Justin Lin is known to direct and co-produce the film. Gary Dauberman, screenwriter of It and Salem's Lot, is writing the screenplay. Set in the 22nd century, the game's story follows a shock troop force sent to fight various threats to humanity and defend the "administered democracy" of the highly fascist Super-Earth. This involves numerous battles against alien robots called Automatons and giant insects dubbed Terminids, both seeking revenge after their defeat a century earlier in the First Galactic War. Helldivers, the fastest-selling PlayStation Studios game of all time. The first game, released in 2015, was very well received, but it was its sequel, launched in 2024, that truly exploded onto the scene. It became the fastest-selling PlayStation Studios game of all time, with an impressive 12 million copies sold in just twelve weeks. The title remains one of the very few recent successes in the continuous service game genre, and the only one of its kind for PlayStation after several unsuccessful attempts. Helldivers is expected in theaters on November 10, 2027. It's certain that sooner or later, the reasons for this unexpected departure will be explained. In the meantime, Jason Momoa fans can always take solace in his participation in the upcoming Supergirl film.
