We reported a few days ago that Apple is actively working on a feature allowing up to four of its HomePod speakers to be synchronized in order, notably, to form a Home Theater system. A very much awaited wireless evolution by fans of the Apple ecosystem, until now limited to pairing two speakers at the front for a stereo effect.
The new Siri AI at the helm
The well-known code sleuth pdfu recently discovered new details about this feature in the iOS 27 beta for developers, concerning in particular the integration of the new Siri AI. We thus learn that the voice assistant will be able to identify whether a speaker belongs to the surround system. Better yet, the HomePods in such a system will be able to send their Siri requests directly to the Apple TV 4K so that the box itself handles the software processing of the request. Finally, the speakers will display a new light animation when they call on Siri AI.
An imminent announcement for October 13?
Details that suggest imminent availability of this feature, concurrent with the global rollout of iOS 27 and audioOS 27, and why not for the rumored announcement of the new Apple TV 4K as soon as October 13.
