Strong Leap Nova, a Google TV 4K stick boosted with artificial intelligence to upscale HD

Manufacturer Strong announces the launch of the Leap Nova, a new Ultra HD 4K streaming stick (up to 75 fps) for Google TV (Android 14). The first "stick" on the market to integrate a dedicated NPU chip for artificial intelligence and video optimization, it also offers comprehensive HDMI 2.1b connectivity and Wi-Fi 6 at an attractive price.
Succeeding previous generations of streaming devices on the market, the Strong Leap Nova takes the form of a particularly compact dongle weighing only 44g and measuring less than 10cm in length. Under the hood, it runs the Android 14 operating system, certified by Google TV, thus offering direct access to thousands of apps on the Play Store such as Netflix, Prime Video, and YouTube. The device stands out for its open approach, allowing for personalized profiles for each family member, the use of Google Cast, and even the installation of third-party applications via sideloading. AI chip and super-powerful processor to transform 1080p streams into Ultra HD 4K. The true innovation of the Strong Leap Nova lies in the integration of the Amlogic S905X5M-J (S9 Gen 6) processor, based on a Quad Core ARM Cortex-A55 architecture, combined with the Mali-G310 V2 GPU. It is supported by 2 GB of RAM (DDR4) and a generous 32 GB of internal storage. Most importantly, this SoC is the very first on the market to integrate a Neural Processing Unit (NPU) delivering 4 TOPS (Tera Operations Per Second) of processing power entirely dedicated to real-time image processing. This artificial intelligence manages AI Super Resolution 2 technology to reconstruct details and intelligently transform 1080p streams into Ultra HD 4K. Simultaneously, the AI Picture Quality function automatically optimizes textures and reduces video noise. These advantages prove invaluable for users with streaming subscriptions limited to Full HD or who rely on Replay services.

HDMI 2.1b, dual-band Wi-Fi 6 and advanced gaming features In addition to its full compatibility with HDR Dolby Vision, HDR10+, HDR HLG and AV1 codec formats, the Strong Leap Nova dongle is packed with cutting-edge display technologies. Its HDMI 2.1b output supports Quick Media Switching (QMS) to eliminate screen tearing when switching between content with different refresh rates, as well as Source-Based Tone Mapping (SBTM). Cloud gaming enthusiasts will also be pleased, as the stick supports Variable Refresh Rate (VRR), Auto Low Latency Mode (ALLM), and Quick Frame Transport (QFT) for a smooth, stutter-free experience. On the network side, the integration of dual-band Wi-Fi 6 (2.4/5 GHz) and Bluetooth 5.2 ensures a perfectly stable connection for 4K UHD streaming. Available now. Suggested price: 74.99 euros.
