Canal+ and Google Cloud announce a partnership that will see AI play a significant role on the French channel network, starting in June.
Starting this June, the latest generative AI technologies from Google Cloud are coming to the Canal+ app, indexing the platform's extensive content and making it easier for users to find content they like. In addition, Canal+ will provide its production partners with Veo3 generative technology, offering tools to accelerate creation through features such as scene previews and video creation from simple archive photos. Stéphane Baumier, Director of Technology and Information Systems at Canal+, explains: "We are delighted with this partnership and to be using Google Cloud's most advanced AI technologies to accelerate technological innovation at Canal+. This strategic partnership, which builds on a long-standing collaboration with Google, opens up numerous possibilities." The video indexing of Canal+ content with this level of granularity is an undeniable asset for Canal+. It will allow us, among other things, to improve both the discovery of our content and the delivery of increasingly personalized entertainment experiences on the Canal+ App across all our markets. Creativity is at the heart of Canal+ content production. We look forward to helping creators push the boundaries of imagination with tools capable of generating AI-powered video scenes that are impossible to produce using traditional methods.” Matt Renner, President and Chief Revenue Officer of Google Cloud, adds: “The entertainment industry is at a pivotal moment, where the convergence of creativity and computing power is becoming crucial. Strengthening our collaboration with Canal+ reflects a shared culture of continuous innovation.” By leveraging Google Cloud's generative AI technologies, Canal+ is not simply adopting new tools: the group is helping to shape the future of media and fundamentally transform the global entertainment landscape.
