92 million PS5s sold

With its latest quarterly results announcement, Sony reports having sold over 92 million PlayStation 5 consoles, surpassing the PS3's 87.4 million units sold over its entire lifespan. The PS5 is on track for second place on the PlayStation podium. Incidentally, this figure is higher than any Xbox ever released and is approaching the PS4's sales of 94.4 million units over the same period. It's certain that the PlayStation 2's record of 160 million units sold won't be broken, but the PS5 is still establishing itself as one of Sony's most popular consoles. PS5 sales are looking bright with Grand Theft Auto 6 expected at the end of the year. And the story doesn't end there, because the PS6 isn't expected to arrive before 2028 at the earliest, and 2026 is shaping up to be a major sales spike thanks to the arrival of Grand Theft Auto 6 at the end of the year.
