iPhone "Flip": Apple in the starting blocks

Apple is already preparing a new type of foldable iPhone, confident in the success that its first foray into this market segment should enjoy this fall.
According to the latest leaks gathered by Mark Gurman of Bloomberg, Apple is "exploring" the idea of a foldable, clamshell iPhone, similar to Samsung's Galaxy Z Flip—a small square that unfolds to become a smartphone. A range of foldable iPhones on the horizon? This project, already mentioned at the end of last year, might seem premature given that Apple's first foldable model isn't expected until the fall. But the company apparently has confidence in this device, which has a design similar to Samsung's Galaxy Z Fold—a smartphone that unfolds to become a tablet. According to Gurman, Apple believes this will revitalize the foldable smartphone market, driving demand for other devices of this kind, with different sizes and shapes, much like the "classic" iPhone range.
