Is Xiaomi preparing its competitor to the iPhone Air?

Despite seemingly limited success for Apple and Samsung models, competition could still enter the ultra-thin smartphone market.
When all smartphone manufacturers align their production with Apple's results, it's fair to say the company confirms its status as a visionary, despite its tendency to take fewer risks in recent years on the one hand, and to accept its relative position as a technological follower on the other. Xiaomi Slim or Xiaomi 17 Air on the way? For example, the iPhone Air, the first truly noteworthy model in terms of design since the 2017 iPhone X, has seen seemingly limited success. Consequently, the latest rumors claimed that the competition would put its similar models on hold, although more recent whispers suggest Xiaomi is still going to give it a shot. Indeed, according to the Chinese leaker Digital Chat Station, Xiaomi is preparing a smartphone that is 5.5 mm thick, 0.1 mm thinner than the iPhone Air. Yes, at this level, it comes down to a tenth of a millimeter. Named Xiaomi Slim or Xiaomi 17 Air, the device is rumored to have a 6.59" screen and be equipped with a Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 processor. More interestingly, it's expected to feature a dual-lens camera and a 6,000 mAh battery, promising significantly longer battery life than the iPhone Air, which has been criticized for its poor battery life and single-lens camera. These crucial differences could encourage Xiaomi to launch its model.
