New iPhone Air in 2026, yes, really, I promise

Several sources reported in recent months that disappointing sales of the new iPhone Air, Apple's thinnest smartphone, had prompted the manufacturer to delay the release of a successor. Then another reason surfaced: the technical challenge of implementing a second camera. The iPhone Air 2's release is timed to coincide with that of the iPhone 18. The second iPhone Air would therefore not actually be "delayed" since it wouldn't be part of an annual release schedule like the manufacturer's other models… Well, actually, it would be released as usual in the fall of 2026. At least, that's what the Chinese leaker Fixed Focus Digital is reporting, corroborating its claims from last December. According to his sources within the manufacturing chain, the device will therefore arrive alongside the iPhone 18 Pro and the new foldable model. He specifies, however, that this iPhone Air 2 will simply offer minor improvements, contradicting previous rumors that predicted a second camera lens and better battery life—exactly what the first version lacked.
