Epson continues to renew its Lifestudio range with the launch of the EH-LS970. Successor to the popular EH-LS800, this new ultra-short-throw laser projector aims to become the technological heart of the living room thanks to a record brightness of 4,000 lumens and a Bose audio system.
As the ultra-short-throw (UST) projector segment becomes increasingly competitive (see our CES 26 news > CES 2026 Recap: AI Superstar, 3rd TV Tech, Dolby Vision 2 and Ultra-Short-Throw Projectors), Epson unveils a promising new model: the Lifestudio Grand EH-LS970. Designed to replace the EH-LS800, this model retains the DNA of its predecessor while significantly boosting its technical specifications. Epson Lifestudio Grand EH-LS970: 3LCD Technology, Ultra HD 4K and AI. At the heart of the Epson EH-LS970 lies the brand's signature 3LCD technology with 0.62" panels, guaranteeing an image free from the rainbow effect (unlike DLP models). Regarding resolution, the EH-LS970 uses the same 4K PRO-UHD technology as the LS800: Ultra HD resolution achieved through pixel-shifting, allowing it to display the required 8.3 million pixels. This feature is now supported by an AI-powered image optimization engine that analyzes content in real time to refine sharpness, contrast, and color accuracy. Epson Lifestudio Grand EH-LS970: Ultra-short throw 0.16 and 150" image. The true strength of the Epson Lifestudio Grand EH-LS970 lies in its 0.16 throw ratio. In practical terms, the EH-LS970 can be placed just a few centimeters from the wall to project a huge image of up to 150" (381 cm). Installation is made easy by the Epson Setting Assistant app, which uses your smartphone's camera to perfectly calibrate the image geometry. Epson Lifestudio Grand EH-LS970: Google TV and Bose Sound Epson has paid close attention to the Smart TV features by natively integrating Google TV. Unlike some competitors, Netflix is directly accessible here, as are Disney+, Prime Video, and YouTube, without the need for an external box. The sound system takes a significant leap forward with an integrated audio system developed in partnership with Bose. Compatible with Dolby Audio, this sound system has been designed to deliver a clear and balanced sound, capable of replacing a traditional soundbar. Epson Lifestudio Grand EH-LS970: Gaming and Quiet Operation Gamers haven't been forgotten; the Epson Lifestudio Grand EH-LS970 supports the mode [abc]ALLM[/abc] (Auto Low Latency Mode) and displays an Input Lag of less than 20 ms, ideal for next-generation consoles. Finally, Epson has worked on acoustic discretion with an operating noise level of only 29 dB (just 18 dB in Silent mode), remarkable for a laser model of this power. The single blue laser light source offers a lifespan of 20,000 hours, complemented by a 5-year manufacturer's warranty. More details to follow. Availability announced, in black or white, for April 2026. Suggested retail price not yet known.
