CES 26 > Samsung HW-Q990H, 11.1.4 soundbar, 120 Hz, Eclipsa Audio and Dolby Atmos/DTS:X

The Samsung HW-Q990H soundbar will be one of the stars of Samsung's First Look event, taking place a few hours before the opening of CES 2026 in Las Vegas in early January. Logically, it succeeds the HW-Q990F, which was released last year. On the agenda: even more AI, a new feature, and others that have been improved.
The new features of the Samsung HW-Q990H soundbar lie primarily in more sophisticated artificial intelligence algorithms. Samsung HW-Q990H, what's new? For example, there's the Auto Volume function, which further smooths out volume differences noticeable when changing channels or even content on the same channel (commercial breaks) during the first few seconds. The Samsung HW-Q990H soundbar also boasts a truly new feature called Sound Elevation. This AI-powered feature enhances the soundstage delivered by the soundbar, aligning it with the TV screen to provide perfect sound coherence between image and sound.

Samsung HW-Q990H, Roon Ready and Eclipsa Audio

For the rest, we find the brilliant Roon Ready function (just try it and you won't want to be without it) whose price is still as inaccessible as ever (from $12.50 to $15 per month or €830 for a lifetime unlimited license), Eclipsa Audio compatibility (a sound technology competing with Dolby Atmos developed in partnership with Google, see our CES 25 news > Eclipsa Audio Google, competitor to Dolby Atmos, in Samsung TVs and soundbars 2025) and the new wireless subwoofer that appeared last year from Samsung.

This ultra-compact cube, measuring 25 cm on each side, delivers a powerful 300 W through two 8" (20.32 cm) drivers and an algorithm called AI NLC (Non-Linear Control) to minimize distortion. Samsung states that the HW-Q990H soundbar's subwoofer is capable of reaching down to 32 hertz. Samsung HW-Q990H, the main specifications continue. The Samsung HW-Q990H's Ultra HD 4K 120 Hz compatibility allows for HDMI connection of a next-generation game console, PS5 or Xbox Series X, or a gaming PC, to fully enjoy it on a television, especially with the ever-increasing number of 120 Hz titles. Perfect for ergonomics and for freeing up an HDMI input on the TV. As already mentioned, the Samsung HW-Q990H naturally includes the Q-Symphony Pro function, capable of activating only a portion of the TV and soundbar speakers simultaneously. This ensures the sound perfectly matches the on-screen action for even greater immersion. The Samsung HW-Q990H also features SpaceFit Sound Pro and the Game Bar. When paired with a Samsung TV (2020/2021/2022/2023/2024/2025), SpaceFit Sound Pro sends a series of audio signals and analyzes their frequency response, echo, and return velocity to tell the soundbar the optimal acoustic treatment to apply based on the room (a microphone is located in the subwoofer for precise calibration). The soundbar allows you to enjoy your favorite games to the fullest with the best possible audio-video quality.

Samsung HW-Q990H, 11.1.4 configuration for a total of 23 speakers££££

The Samsung HW-Q990H (7.0.2) comes with a wireless surround speaker kit (4.0.2) to recreate a true surround sound environment. The total power output is not yet specified but it should be similar to the 2025 HW-Q990F, i.e. 756W for a total of 23 speakers in an 11.1.4 configuration. Each end of the soundbar has two drivers to further widen the soundstage. The subwoofer, with automatic calibration, is still a wireless model.
