What if the iPod came back?

Although Apple's famous iPod music player didn't survive the smartphone era, the idea of its resurrection still lingers in the minds of many.
Slowly dying out as it became redundant in Apple's catalog with the arrival of the iPhone, the iPod line was definitively discontinued in 2022. This hasn't stopped designers of all stripes from imagining its return. Steelworks presents the SW-1, a reinterpretation of the iPod. The team at Steelworks recently conceptualized the SW-1, which incorporates the features of an iPod Touch (the version with a screen) with a rather bold design, at the bottom of which sits a chunky, metallic selection wheel—anything but discreet. It matches a similarly metallic casing, housing a modern edge-to-edge touchscreen. This modernity is also reflected in the device's thickness, almost as thin as a current iPhone Air. The SW-1 can also be used in landscape mode thanks to its integrated stand, allowing it to be placed on a flat surface in this orientation.
