Triangle Capella 2: Wisa active speakers with calibration and Tidal/Spotify Connect

The French speaker manufacturer Triangle, still based on the outskirts of Soissons in the Aisne department, presented the latest version of its Capella active and connected speakers, simply and logically named Triangle Capella 2, at the PAVS 25 (Paris Audio Video Show 2025) trade show held in Paris on the weekend of October 25th and 26th.
Compared to the original Capella speakers, the Triangle Capella 2 offers several major improvements for superior ergonomics and sound quality. Triangle Capella 2: What are the improvements compared to the original Capella? First and foremost, a new multimedia hub, the Stereo Hub 2, features enhanced connectivity, now including an Ethernet port for a more stable network connection, a slightly different frequency response (40-22,000 Hz, compared to 42-22,000 Hz), and an LFE output for enhanced bass presence when used with an external subwoofer. Also included is Tidal Connect support, and new British Racing Green and Oak finishes are available in addition to the Space Black, Astral Blue, and Space White already offered on the original Capella. Otherwise, the Triangle Capella 2 speakers remain active bookshelf speakers, and it is of course still possible to use them wirelessly (without the power cable), for complete placement freedom.

To return to the new Stereo Hub 2 designed to manage the connection of wired sources, in addition to the Ethernet port and the LFE output mentioned, there is an [abc]HDMI[/abc] [abc]ARC[/abc]/[abc]CEC[/abc] port to retrieve and enhance the sound of a television (see photo below) and connected sources, an asynchronous [abc]USB[/abc]-C port to enjoy digital audio files [abc]Hi-Res Audio[/abc] from a PC or Mac computer, a USB-A port, three [abc]optical[/abc] inputs, one [abc]coaxial[/abc] input, and one stereo [abc]RCA[/abc] input. This is a complete package to meet the needs of even the most well-equipped music lovers, as well as for connecting a game console or a 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray player. Notably, the CEC protocol allows the Triangle Capella 2 pack to power on/off in unison with the TV's power-up time. Very convenient. As for digital music, the Triangle Capella 2 pack is also hard to fault. Consider this: Wi-Fi n, Bluetooth 5.2, AirPlay 2, UPnP (DLNA) audio gateway, Spotify Connect, Chromecast (integrated), in addition to the already mentioned Tidal Connect. We can also add Roon Ready certification.

Triangle Capella 2, a closer look at the Stereo Hub 2 and the calibration function££££

As indicated in the title of this news item, the Triangle Capella 2 Stereo Hub communicates with speakers via the high-resolution Wisa protocol (extremely low latency of 2.6 ms). Specifically, for perfect listening to your audio sources (up to 96 kHz/24-bit analog, 192 kHz/24-bit digital, and 48 kHz/16-bit Bluetooth), the Triangle Capella 2 package offers automatic calibration via an Android/iOS smartphone to take into account the acoustic characteristics of your room and an optional Zen wireless microphone. The latter works in conjunction with the Triangle Capella app.

Triangle Capella 2, acoustic package. These two-way amplified Triangle Cappela speakers feature a 2.5 cm (1") magnesium alloy horn tweeter (new dome design) topped with a phase plug for harmonious dispersion of high frequencies. The midrange/woofer is a 16.5 cm (6.5") natural cellulose pulp driver, crafted in the purest Triangle tradition. These drivers also benefited from the research and development work carried out for the Esprit 40th Anniversary Limited Edition series. On the amplification side (Class D), the Triangle Capella 2 delivers 2 x 100 W of power (50 W per bi-amplified speaker), and a DSP is responsible for the continuous control of the midrange-woofer to fully exploit its capabilities, particularly for bass frequency reproduction. Of course, the filtering is handled digitally. Triangle Capella 2, DVAS cabinet design: The acronym DVAS (Driver Vibration Absorption System) refers to the cabinet design of the Triangle Capella 2 speakers, which features cutouts to accommodate additional internal bracing. These carefully placed braces significantly strengthen the cabinet to eliminate unwanted vibrations. Also noteworthy are the rounded shapes of the speaker cabinet, designed to drastically reduce sound reflections back to the listener. The Triangle Capella 2 package includes a remote control, two power cables for the speakers, a power supply for the Stereo Hub 2, and two speaker grilles. An optional tall stand (for positioning the speakers at ear level), the S05, is available in green, black, white, blue, and oak. Finally, Triangle has partnered with turntable specialist Pro-Ject to offer a package with the new Lunar 3 turntable, developed specifically for the Capella speakers. This turntable features a phono preamp for direct connection to the Stereo Hub 2. Finally, it's worth mentioning the charming appeal of the Triangle Capella pack with its splendidly lacquered finish, further enhanced by the aforementioned aluminum base. Available in white, blue, black, oak, or green, it is expected to be released in early 2026.
