Apple isn't abandoning the field of mixed reality, far from it, with a cheaper and lighter model of its Apple Vision Pro headset, the Vision Air, expected in two years.
Corroborating a roadmap leaked a few months ago, Taiwanese analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, always well-informed among Apple's Asian contractors, tells us that a new Vision Pro headset is planned for 2027. Apple Vision Air, €2,000 and target of one million units sold££££ This would be a brand new model called Apple Vision Air, 40% lighter than the original (which would give 390g). The price would drop by half to around €2,000. More expensive than a basic iPhone, but in the same price range as a high-end Mac computer, or the future iPhone with a foldable screen. To achieve this price, the glass would be replaced by plastic, the casing would be made of magnesium alloy, and there would be a lower number of sensors. Kuo estimates that the Cupertino company will sell one million Apple Vision Airs by 2027, compared to 400,000 for the original Apple Vision Pro model.
