Confirming our intention to share with you the rumors that have been circulating throughout the year, the new iPhone Air (which appears in the Apple catalog with the iPhone 17 range) ticks almost all the boxes of the "supposed" information that we have been reporting for several months already.
iPhone Air, only 5.6 mm thick££££
Replacing the Plus model, it turns out to be the thinnest iPhone ever made at only 5.6 mm thick. The frame is made of titanium with a polished mirror finish (no, it doesn't say thank you, it's just smooth and shiny), with a Ceramic Shield 2 coating on the front, Ceramic Shield on the back, significantly more resistant than previous models. A necessary precaution given the potential fragility that such thinness can cause.
iPhone Air, 3,000 nits peak brightness££££
The screen is a 6.5" (16.51 cm) Super Retina XDR model with ProMotion technology and up to 3,000 nits for peak brightness, the highest ever offered by an iPhone. It should be noted that the entire iPhone 17 range benefits for the first time from ProMotion technology, i.e. the adaptive refresh rate of 1 Hz for the Always-on function up to 120 hertz. Since its arrival with the iPhone 13 range, this mode was previously reserved for the iPhone Pro.
iPhone Air, 48 MP square camera sensor££££
On the back is a simple 48 MP camera (no room for more in such a thin device) with an optical zoom of up to 2x. The real improvement comes from the selfie sensor, the biggest evolution since the iPhone 12, with a size of 18 megapixels. A square model for the first time, managing the change of aspect ratio automatically if it detects several people, switching from Portrait mode to Landscape mode without having to turn the device.
iPhone Air, other technical specifications££££
The iPhone Air offers better quality images, especially in low light conditions, and can film stabilized videos up to 4K HDR. Also worth noting is a new function previously reserved for Android devices: the ability to film with both cameras - rear and front - simultaneously, so that you can see your face in a window on the captured image.

On the processor side, we find the new A19 Pro with a six-core CPU and a five-core GPU, as well as the new C1X modem twice faster than the C1 of the iPhone 16th. Also worth noting is the new N1 chip which integrates [abc]Wi-Fi[/abc] 7, [abc]Bluetooth[/abc] and Thread connectivity. These proprietary chips make the iPhone Air the most efficient model in terms of consumption, according to Apple. The battery with a capacity of 3,149 mAh thus lasts "a whole day". Finally, the iPhone Air has 12 GB of RAM.
Working only in eSIM, again to save space, the iPhone Air is available in space black, cloud white, light gold and sky blue starting at €1,229 for the 256 GB version, €1,479 for 512 GB and €1,729 for the 1 terabyte version.
