Based on data collected from thousands of artists and partners in the music industry, the Luminate firm has drawn up a detailed portrait of the music streaming market in 2024.

We learn that the number of tracks “streamed” reached 4.8 trillion (or billion billion) units in 2024, 14% better than in the previous year. Regarding the nationality of the most popular artists, the majority come from the United States, but those from Mexico, Brazil and India have seen the biggest growth in terms of the number of tracks and videos streamed. The USA, the United Kingdom and Canada have seen the biggest global decline.

The study also specifies that tracks released between 2020 and 2024 represent almost half of all streams, while almost 80% of tracks available on demand were released after 2010, demonstrating the popularity of contemporary music.
