GTA VI boosts listening to Love is a Long Road

The music track that accompanies the GTA VI game trailer has seen a huge resurgence in popularity.

In the same way that the series Stranger Things brought Kate Bush's 1985 Running Up That Hill back to the forefront and the series The Last of Us introduced young people to the extraordinary hit Never Let Me Down Again from 1987 by Depeche Mode, the video game Grand Theft Auto VI did the same for Love Is a Long Road, a 1989 song by Tom Petty which accompanies the game's recently released trailer.

GTA VI, the game of all records even for the soundtrack

While it will only be available in 2025, GTA VI therefore continues to set records, or at least to encourage them since after the release of the trailer Love Is a Long Road saw an increase of streaming streams of 8,421% to be exact. That is, from 4,000 to 5,000 streams per day before the trailer to 78,000 after the trailer was broadcast. On Spotify for example, at the time of writing the song exceeds 16 million plays and the figure continues to increase significantly faster than usual.

Died in 2017 Tom Petty will unfortunately not be able to comment on this event, but the singer is a regular on the GTA series since we could already hear one of his songs -Runnin' Down A Dream- on rock radio K-DST in GTA San Andreas in 2004.
