If, as mentioned in our previous news on the subject (see our news CES 23 > TV QD Oled TCL at the start of the 2023 school year), the camp of supporters of QD Oled technology has one more big name in 2023, this does not will not be that of TCL. The Chinese manufacturer returned a few hours ago to its pre-CES statement: “Information concerning the upcoming marketing of a QD Oled TCL television was communicated in error”.

While this new signed announcement is disappointing to say the least, it does not call into question the Asian group's interest in QD Oled technology, unlike that of White Oled, which TCL representatives do not hesitate to destroy as soon as the opportunity presents itself. As a reminder, as early as 2020, the manufacturer had announced its intention to quickly market such a television (see our QD Oled TCL TV news unveiled at the IFA show in Berlin 2021?). It now remains to know the identity of the QD Oled, Joled or Samsung Display panel. It also remains to be seen whether TCL will be satisfied with a single QD Oled reference or whether several are planned.
Questions for which the charismatic boss of TCL product development for Europe, Marek Maciejewski, gave some elements of response during a video interview conducted by our colleagues from AVForums on the brand's stand: availability is planned for 2023 or 2024 and the panel could well be signed by the company Joled, which welcomed TCL to its capital in 2020 ( see our news Joled/CSOT partnership for the development of OLED TV panels).
What about a QD Oled Philips TV series? Answer at the beginning of February…
To swell the ranks of manufacturers/brands with one or more QD Oled TVs in their catalog in 2023, we must now wait to discover the new Philips TV range, which will be presented on February 8 in Amsterdam.
