According to indiscretions gathered by the site The Information, Apple's mixed reality headset -expected release in early 2023- would be equipped with biometric eye sensors. In other words, the device scans your eyes to identify you, and thus unlock the device, make payments or access applications. A feature similar to Face ID on iPhone and iPad, which will allow multiple people to use the same headset without a problem.
14 cameras and super-light
This option will allow Apple's model to stand out from the competition, notably the very recent Meta Quest Pro. We also learn that the helmet will be equipped with 14 cameras - compared to 10 for the Quest Pro - allowing the wearer's entire body to be monitored, including their legs.
Quoting two people who worked on the project, The Information adds that the headset will be lighter and thinner than Meta's, which weighs 722 grams. In addition, it will be possible to magnetically insert prescription glasses for those who need them.
