Panasonic LZ1500, Panasonic LZ1000 and Panasonic LZ980 4K Ultra HD Oled TVs: 42'', 48'', 55'' and 65''

The Japanese manufacturer Panasonic has just unveiled its 2022 Oled TV range. Four series are therefore on the menu with, in addition to the Panasonic LZ2000 already presented in our columns, the Panasonic LZ1500, Panasonic LZ1000 and Panasonic LZ980.

If the Panasonic LZ2000 series, as announced at CES in Las Vegas 2022, has three references, the Panasonic TX-55LZ2000, Panasonic TX-65LZ2000 and Panasonic TX-77LZ2000, the LZ1500, LZ1000 and LZ980 series will count for the first and the third cited a single additional reference (for a total of four) with the introduction of the 42'' and 48'' diagonal (see second photo below with the Panasonic TX-48LZ1000) but the absence of 77 inches , for the second quoted two references.

In the 2022 Panasonic catalogue, in addition to the Panasonic LZ2000 specimens already mentioned, there will therefore be the Panasonic TX-42LZ1500 models (see photo below), Panasonic TX-48LZ1500, Panasonic TX-55LZ1500 and Panasonic TX-65LZ1500, the Panasonic TX-55LZ1000 and Panasonic TX-65LZ1000, not to mention the Panasonic TX-42LZ980, Panasonic TX-48LZ980, Panasonic TX-55LZ980 and Panasonic TX-65LZ980).

Master Oled Professional Edition 4K

As in 2021, the Panasonic LZ1500 series, devoid of the sophisticated sound section implemented on the LZ2000, will also benefit from a Master Oled Professional Edition panel with Panasonic sauce (except for the TX-42LZ1500 and TX-48LZ1500 models ). This will allow, thanks to more attractive prices, a wider target group to access the Panasonic cinema image.

As a reminder, if the 2022 vintage Oled EX panel (see our CES 22 news > New Oled EX TV panel by LG Display, 30% more brightness?) still comes from the manufacturer LG Display (a company belonging to LG Group, such as LG Electronics), it has also been optimized by Panasonic teams in partnership with a renowned and famous Hollywood colorist, Stefen Sonnefeld, who has collaborated with the greatest film directors and on the box's biggest hits. -office such as A Star is Born, Man of Steel, Wonder Woman, Jurassic World, 300, Star Wars: The Force Awakens, Beauty and the Beast… Panasonic also calls this Oled panel under the name Professional Edition 4K Oled.

Namely, if the Panasonic LZ1000 and Panasonic LZ980 series do not have Professional Edition 4K OLED panels, they nevertheless benefit from the color settings designed by Stefen Sonnefeld.

HCX Pro AI Processor

Similarly, all Panasonic LZ1500/LZ1000/LZ980 OLED TVs feature the equipment of the LZ2000 models, namely HDR10+ Adaptive technology, the Game Control Board function (see photo below) for direct access to settings game-related, HDMI 2.1 compatibility or the renowned HCX Pro AI Processor. The algorithm of the latter is based on Machine Learning technology in order to adapt in real time (analysis of the image every second) the best parameters according to the content displayed. Namely, this Machine Learning process is coupled with a huge image database of more than a million video clips. Of course, the HCX Pro AI Processor chip acts on the sound, again by finely adapting the settings to the nature of the program displayed, film, sport…

HDR Dolby Vision IQ and Filmmaker Mode

The Dolby Vision IQ process proposed by Dolby Laboratories is present. Its purpose in the presence of HDR Dolby Vision content is to always provide optimum image quality regardless of the ambient light conditions, without having to use the remote control.

But also to better adapt the TV image settings based on real-time analysis of the content displayed. Thus, on a snow landscape, the HDR Dolby Vision IQ influences the color temperature to approach the whiteness of the powder (see video below in English).

The Filmmaker Mode option of the Panasonic LZ1500/LZ1000/LZ980 TVs (see photo below of the Panasonic TX-48LZ980) is associated with the brightness sensor of the televisions to adjust the HDR rendering according to the light environment.

HDR10+, HDR HLG, HDR Dolby Vision and HDR Photo

Panasonic LZ1500/LZ1000/LZ980 televisions, in addition to the already mentioned Adaptive HDR10+, are of course compatible with HDR10+, HDR HLG and HDR Dolby Vision, not to mention HDR Photo, the HDR format for digital photos that also appeared in 2019 Namely, the Panasonic Oled 2022 TVs handle HDR Dolby Vision + VRR video games up to 60 hertz.

Game Mode Extreme

Video games are another of the aspects particularly taken care of by Panasonic on its 2022 vintage Oled TVs. The brand announces that it has made further progress in terms of the Input Lag of these Oled screens, without however giving any value (as a reminder, in , the latter displayed 14.4 ms with Game Expert mode). Another clarification, these screens are AMD FreeSync Premium compatible.

Smart TV My Home Screen 7.0, Built-in Google Assistant and Amazon Alexa

The new Smart TV My Home Screen 7.0 function offers the possibility of personalizing the home screen (My Scenary option) with the choice of photos or a video. Panasonic has partnered with LoungV Studio to deliver quality relaxation videos. Access to VOD and content is also made easier thanks to a redesigned graphical interface based on icons representing the devices connected to the television. The same goes for the Netflix, Amazon and YouTube apps. Users can even add frequently watched TV channels directly to the home screen.

New, the dual Bluetooth connection allows the simultaneous connection of two appropriate devices. Thus, for example, it is possible to enjoy TV sound on two separate wireless headphones.

Finally, Panasonic LZ1500/LZ1000/LZ980 televisions also integrate Google Assistant and Amazon Alexa (Google Home or Amazon Echo speaker required), allowing voice control of the TV for essential functions.
