Samsung Q70B Ultra HD/4K QLED TV: 100 Hz, Quantum Processor 4K, Dual LED and HDMI 2.1

After our introduction of Samsung Ultra HD 4K/8K Neo QLED TV series (click on the following links, Samsung QN85A, Samsung QN90B, Samsung QN95B, Samsung QN700B, Samsung QN800B and Samsung QN900B) and Samsung Q60B QLED series, continuation of our review of the QLED troops with the Samsung Q70B.

The QLED 2022 Samsung Q70B TV series therefore has four Ultra HD 4K references, the Samsung QE55Q70B (55'', 140 cm), Samsung QE65Q70B (65'', 165 cm), Samsung QE75Q70B (75'', 191 cm) and Samsung QE85Q70B (85'', 216cm).

Samsung Q70B and Samsung Q60B, what differences?

In the game of the seven differences, between the Q60B and Q70B TV series, there are even more with, for example, a 100 Hz LCD panel (compared to 50 Hz), the Quantum Processor 4K chip (and no longer 4K Lite), the HDR10+ Gaming and Wide Viewing Angle technology for a wider viewing angle.

We can also cite the Adaptive Sound+ function, an evolution of Adaptive Sound, still capable of adapting the audio settings of the TV in real time according to the image displayed but which now takes into account the room of listen. Similarly, the AVA (Active Voice Amplifier) function is included, intended to cover new noise in the TV environment, automatically. For example that of a kettle or a vacuum cleaner which will be covered by an increase in volume managed directly by the TV. Don't panic, the TV lowers the sound, automatically always, when the noise stops.

Also present on Q70B televisions, the EyeComfort Mode process which, once the television is connected to the internet, subtly modifies the brightness and color temperature of the image according to the time of day, for viewing comfort always optimal. The latter, for example, reduces the blue light emitted in the evening to promote the sleep of sensitive people. We must also mention the foot, central here.

Finally, we also note the addition of voice control via Bixby, Alexa or Google Assistant (via remote control or directly via the microphone integrated into the TV) and the four HDMI 2.1 inputs with VRR compatibility, Freesync Premium Pro, ALLM, HFR 4K/120 and eARC on each of them. And to activate the Mirroring mode between a Samsung Galaxy smartphone and a Samsung Q70B TV, all you have to do is touch the second with the first thanks to the Tap View function, and you're done. Namely, sending TV content to the mobile is also possible.

Samsung Q70B, main technical characteristics

Of course, all VA LCD panels from the QLED series display 10 bits on the counter (FRC Dithering 10 bits to be precise, or 10 bits simulated from an 8-bit panel). Like last year, these televisions use two types of diodes in the backlighting system (see our CES 20 news > Samsung QLED Q60T/Q70T and The Frame: Dual LED to improve contrast and color).

The former displaying a color temperature of 5,000°K and the others 20,000°K, allowing significant variations in color (cold or warm) to better match the nature of the displayed image. Thus, these TVs are able to adapt more easily and more effectively to the different content appearing on the screen. Of course, we also note the presence of real Quantum Dots nanocrystals for improved color performance in red and green tints, as well as an extended gamut.

Of course, HDR10/HDR10+ (High Dynamic Range), HDR10+ Adaptive and HDR HLG compatibility is required here. Namely, Samsung Q70B TVs do not offer the One Connect box (all the connections are present at the back of the TV).

Samsung Q70B, OTS Lite function

The OTS Lite sound section is obedience 2.0 and delivers a total power of 20 watts. For the rest, we find the Q-Symphony 2.0 function. The latter consists, in the presence of a connected Samsung Q-Series 2020/2021/2022 soundbar, in taking advantage of the television speakers in addition to those of the soundbar to magnify the sound reproduction, its magnitude and its spatialization. .

Indeed, until now, when a soundbar is connected to a TV, the latter's speakers are then disconnected. With the Q-Symphony system signed Samsung, they remain active and largely contribute to the perceived audio improvement with a configuration up to 11.1.4 depending on the sound bar connected. And the demonstration we have witnessed truly demonstrates the effectiveness of the process and its relevance.

Samsung Q70B, LED Edge Local Dimming

Featuring an Edge Local Dimming LED backlighting system, the Samsung Q70B also incorporate a dual DVB-T2, DVB-C and DVB-S2 tuner, a 100 Hz obedience panel already mentioned, the Supreme UHD Dimming process and a PQI melt index of 3400.

Samsung Q70B, Minimum Input Lag

Without a doubt, Samsung 2022 QLED TVs will remain among the favorite televisions of video game players with unique capabilities: ALLM mode, Game Motion Plus mode to improve fluidity of movement via the TV's motion compensation system and very low Input Lag measured at around 10ms.

The new features dedicated to video game enthusiasts are not to be outdone with, in the presence of a connected PC, a new "game bar" 2.0 grouping together all the information in one place, allowing easy configuration and quickly the TV according to his desires (see photo above). This game bar also gives valuable information, for example the number of frames per second displayed on the screen.

With a PC connected, the Super Ultrawide GameView mode offers players the possibility of playing in different wide image ratios, 16/9 or 32/9 (see photo below), if the graphics card and the game allows it of course, with black bars (in which the game bar can be placed).

Samsung Q70B, Amazon Alexa, Bixby, Google Assistant and new Tizen

In 2022, the Tizen interface is radically changing for ever more advanced ergonomics on the one hand, to give pride of place to content on the other. Namely, Samsung is currently working with Internet service providers to develop IP TV applications allowing you to enjoy it directly from a Smart TV and eliminate the need for a TV decoder. Thus, Orange TV would be accessible with a Login/mdp like myCanal for example.

The Bixby voice assistant is still available, as are Google Assistant and Amazon Alexa. And it is possible to easily switch from one to the other via the menu. On the connectivity menu, we must mention the Wi-Fi 5 function, Bluetooth 5.2 and AirPlay 2 compatibility plus many communication features (Google Duo For example for video calls) or the possibility of working on these Microsoft documents via the Cloud on the TV screen.

Not to mention the new remote control, still solar-powered but capable, in 2022, of being recharged by RF (radio frequency). Thus, the zappette takes advantage of your box's Wi-Fi to recharge constantly.

Samsung Q70B, Multiview function

And the Multiview function allows the simultaneous display of two contents through two windows on the screen: the first with the signal from a TV channel or a source connected to the TV, the second with the screen of a user's smartphone (see photo below). There are many display possibilities, from the classic PIP to having two adjacent windows.
