Apple TV, first streaming service to win a Best Picture Oscar

While they weren't taken seriously a few years ago, Netflix, Amazon and other streaming platforms have finally settled in Hollywood.

If we remember especially the last Oscar ceremony for this memorable blowout of Will Smith, the evening was marked by another event, the victory of an Oscar for Best Film for CODA, distributed by Apple TV+.

CODA, first Oscar for an OTT service

Event, because it is the first time that a feature film launched by a streaming platform has won this prestigious award. Amazon Prime Video snagged the first nomination for this category in 2017 with Manchester by the Sea, opening the door in subsequent years to Netflix and others. In addition to the Oscar for Best Film, CODA also won the prizes for Best Supporting Actor (Troy Kotsur), and Best Adaptation.
