The script, written by Troy Kennedy Martin (The Italian Job), sets its story in 1957, when ex-racing driver Enzo Ferrari comes to a point in his life where nothing is going right, and tells how Enzo Ferrari will manage to climb the slope after the death of his son by winning the Mille Miglia, a famous car race organized in Italy.
The director of Heat, Collateral and Miami Vice said in a statement: "To be able to have these talented artists, actors Adam Driver, Penélope Cruz and Shailene Woodley, and to be able to bring these unique characters to life in Modena and in the Emilia-Romagna region, allow us to give a complete vision of Ferrari". According to Deadline, production on the film is set to begin next May in Italy.
