iPhone 15: 3nm engraving process in sight and 15 billion transistors

Indeed, the Taiwanese site DigiTimes indicates that the processor manufacturer TSMC will begin in the fourth quarter of 2022 to produce A15 Bionic 3 nm chips for the next iPhone, Mac and MacBook. For reference, the 7 nm process allowed a density of 90 million transistors per square millimeter, or a total of 8.5 billion transistors on iPhone 12. The 5 nm allowed a density of 134 million transistors per square millimeter. , that is to say a total of 11.8 billion transistors for the A14 Bionics of iPhone 13.
