Samsung TV 2022, heading for Neo QLED Mini LED 8K and Oled 4K

According to our Korean colleagues at The Elec, Samsung intends to focus on its 2022 premium TV range according to a simple hierarchy. At the top of the Asian manufacturer's offer, we will therefore find the Samsung Ultra HD 8K Neo QLED Mini LED TVs, and just below the Ultra HD 4K Oled models. Behind the TV Neo QLED Mini LED Ultra HD 4K references will follow.

Admittedly, the most upscale televisions signed by Samsung will still, in 2022, be of Micro LED obedience. But their still prohibitive price reserves them for the more fortunate among us, for a limited final volume. Even when counting the sales made by the professional division of the brand.

Samsung 2022 TV range, Neo QLED 8K, OLED 4K then Neo QLED 4K

The flagship role of the Samsung 2022 TV range will therefore be devolved to the Neo QLED Mini LED UHD 8K series with a high sales target: 3 million units, just that. For Oled TVs, a priori UHD 4K Oled broadcasters (Quantum Dots technology signed Samsung Display and White Oled signed LG Display), Samsung's desire would be to sell 2 million copies (500,000 QD Oled screens and 1.5 million Woled screens, see our news Oled TV panels LG Display at Samsung? The rumor is back). In the end, Samsung therefore intends to market more 8K TVs than 4K Oled TVs. And Samsung would have ruled out the idea for the next two or three years to market 8K Oled TV screens. Regarding Neo Qled Mini LED UHD 4K TVs, no details have been communicated by the Korean manufacturer. To be complete on the LG Display / Samsung subject, remember that the second should also order from the first in 2022, 4 million LCD panels, or five times more than in 2021.

TV White Oled Samsung, a transitional offer?

Another clarification provided by the site The Elec, the contract for the supply of 4K Oled TV panels between LG Display and Samsung would cover only two years, 2022 and 2023. From 2024, Samsung plans to use exclusively, for its TV offer Oled, QD Oled's “in-house” technology. To know again, the total orders of TV panels from Samsung would be around 53 million units for worldwide sales estimated between 44 and 45 million. The differential can be stored for later use (i.e. in 2023), to meet a sudden increase in demand around the time of the 2022 World Cup for example, or to trigger specific trade POs during Black Friday or the Christmas holidays . Or to counter the aggressive strategy of a competitor, mainly Chinese, with models offered at low prices.
