A thriller in country music country with Jessica Chastain

The trailer for Heartland, Netflix's new mystery thriller starring Jessica Chastain, has just been unveiled.

Shana Feste, director of The Greatest, Country Strong and Endless Love, writes and directs the film, shot in Atlanta at the end of last year.

Heartland, like a little air of True Detective

These first images offer a glimpse of Jessica Chastain in the skin of a kind of badass Texas Ranger, at the heart of a mix of country and thriller with a False Detective feel. All in all, by the end of this trailer, we tell ourselves that the stylistic exercise could well work, even if the margin is slim. The actress seems in any case perfectly at ease in her boots and under her Stetson. A curiosity all the more appealing because the images seem particularly polished, with a precise frame and very carefully crafted lighting.

Jessica Chastain investigates in the underbelly of Nashville

The story follows Misty Jones, a former huge country star, who comes out of retirement to investigate the sudden disappearance of her niece, a young country musician on the rise. As she searches, she must confront her own past and the underbelly of Nashville. Her investigation reveals a dark side of the city where no one, including her, is really who they claim to be.

Garrett Hedlund, Carter Faith, Ross Lynch, Ben Dickey, Jennifer Nettles and John Hawkes complete the cast. Heartland will be available directly on Netflix starting November 13.
